South Runway Maintenance Schedule
YVR runways require regular, ongoing maintenance. As a result of its frequent use, the South Runway (08R/26L) requires more repairs and closure time.
2025 South Runway Maintenance and Construction Projects
The South Runway (08R/26L) and Crosswind Runway (Runway 13/31) will be closed on selected nights throughout the year for regular routine and preventative maintenance and project work. These scheduled closures ensure that the airport meets Transport Canada standards and maintains safe operations for our passengers and aircraft operators.
Unless otherwise noted, this work is performed between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. local, at which time all landings and take-offs are moved to the North Runway (08L/26R). While some work can be completed in a single night, other work may require multiple nights.
The South Runway routine and preventative maintenance and construction project schedule for 2025 is as follows:
- January 11, 18, 25 (Saturday nights)
- February 1, 15, 17, 18, 19, 22

In 2025, YVR is undertaking a modernization program to pave and deliver infrastructure improvements to the North Runway. The South Runway maintenance schedule will be coordinated with the North Runway Modernization Program to ensure both runways are able to be serviced throughout the summer construction season.
During construction on the North Runway, temporary changes to runway use may be required. For more information, please visit www.yvr.ca/northrunway.
We acknowledge that some communities may be affected by changes to runway use during airfield maintenance and construction, and this work is necessary to maintain the high standard of safety for the travelling public. For more information, please contact noise@yvr.ca.
