South Runway Maintenance Schedule
YVR runways require regular, ongoing maintenance. As a result of its frequent use, the South Runway (08R/26L) requires more repairs and closure time.
Upcoming South Runway Maintenance and Construction Projects
The South Runway (08R/26L) will be closed on selected nights throughout the year for regular routine and preventative maintenance and project work. These scheduled closures ensure that the airport meets Transport Canada standards and maintains safe operations for our passengers and aircraft operators.
Unless otherwise noted, this work is performed between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. local, at which time all landings and take-offs are moved to the North Runway (08L/26R). While some work can be completed in a single night, other work may require multiple nights.
2026 closure dates are currently scheduled for the following nights:
- January 5 (Monday night)
- February 2, 16 (Monday nights)
- March 2, 16, 30 (Monday nights)
- April – December – To be determined
Future dates for April to December will be scheduled in early 2026 and shared on this webpage.
Please note that dates are subject to change as additional maintenance work may be required.
